July 7th Long Table

Now this will be a one to remember. The weather was not so kind to us, but oh how my guests banded together for this wild ride ! I could not be more thankful for these troopers, some quite accustomed to the ‘quirks’ of British climate, they brushed it off their shoulder and kept their chins high!

Now the weather started quite fine , a pocket of sunshine after a week of rain and showers. I was hopeful and positive we could keep things in that direction …

But the downpours came for us at some point 😂 it was hilarious and formed an incredible unity between our group . It felt like we could get through anything together !

But I must say I believe what kept them at the table way passed the dismantling of the market and the third round of showers , could have also been the delicious food keeping them there ;)

There was a refreshing cucumber & lime cordial, a delicious - not to sweet concoction- that wouldn’t taste amiss with a splash of tequila if I do say so.

Focaccia of course , then a banga cauda butter, Wow !! (sans anchovies this was a deep umami miso butter. So good. )

Marco came through with the delicious burrata from Puglia , a milky ball of creamy goodness. We burst them atop a layer of sliced red peppers, with a chunky caper parley vinaigrette

Now came the downpours. An interesting mid meal entertainment that had me holding down the gazebo , but it thankfully kept us dry and spirits high!

Then we had our main event !

A Tuscan broad bean Sformato , which is a kind of Italian vegetable souffle dish , made with ricotta and eggs this was a filing and soothing.

Along with that came some delicious new potatoes and fine beans , grilled on the Bbq

And topped with some incredible basil pesto , chock full of fresh herbs from Perry court.

And we finished up the day with a celebration cake. A celebration of how far we’ve come and to send off summer in style. This July was my last long table for a little while as I will be heading off to New York for a summer sojourn. ( with a little work too )

The cake 🎂 was a Neapolitan marble cake that ticked ALL the boxes. Topped with a light as air raspberry buttery buttercream and tumbles of cherries straight from Bob at Perry court ( or should I say cherry court ?!) and served with THICK jersey cream straight from the cow ? (Via edmund and a few glass jars)

I just want to finish up with so much gratitude for the group and for all the guests who have enjoyed the community.table events over the past 4 months. Can’t wait to keep growing together xx
